Thatchers Cider is a cider maker based in Sandford, in North Somerset, England. The company started producing cider in 1904 and has continued in the same family since. They use several varieties of apples to make different brands, and also process other fruit to make perry. Their aim is to be the household name in cider.

Keeping Everything Connected

Thatchers Cider has a large site with many distributed buildings. They were running on different systems on different sites with no flexibility and no disaster recovery options for voice or data.

This disassociated system meant the company couldn't scale up in line with its ambitions and was reducing its productivity potential.

The Solution

A bespoke solution was installed including:

A lease line with an ADSL backup, a Dell SonicWall firewall in high availability and 2 separate Unify Openscape office systems.

SIP trunks brought all the distributed phone numbers together and the separate systems were merged into a single solution.

Wi-Fi phones gave them site-wide comm’s and their secure gate entry system links back to the phone system for easy operation.
